Svetlo pre život: Abrahám a Izraeliti (11. časť)

Genezis pokračuje príbehom Abraháma, praotca Izraelitov a otca všetkých, ktorí veria. Abrahám mal sériu hlbokých osobných skúseností s tajomným Bohom: „A keď zapadalo slnko, padol na Abrama tvrdý spánok. Prepadla ho hrôza a veľká tma“ (Gn 15, 12). Abrahám bol vyzvaný, aby vložil celú svoju dôveru do Boha. On a jeho manželka Sára boli starí a bezdetní, no Boh mu povedal, že sa stane otcom veľkého národa. Abrahám mal na oplátku opustiť svoj domov a svoj rod a odísť do novej a cudzej krajiny. Abrahám už nemal vnímať Boha ako miestneho patróna určitého regiónu, ale ako Boha celého stvorenia.

Boh prevzal iniciatívu a vstúpil do vzťahu s Abrahámom a jeho potomkami. Týmto Boh uzavrel zmluvu s celým ľudstvom. Svätý Pavol neskôr vysvetlí túto zmluvu z kresťanského hľadiska:

„Abrahám uveril Bohu a počítalo sa mu to za spravodlivosť. Vedzte teda, že tí, čo sú z viery, sú Abrahámovými synmi. Písmo predvídalo, že Boh z viery ospravedlní pohanov, preto predpovedalo Abrahámovi: ‚V tebe budú požehnané všetky národy.‘ Teda tí, čo sú z viery, sú žehnaní s veriacim Abrahámom“ (Gal 3, 6 – 9).

Príbeh o Abrahámovi sa číta na večierňach a liturgiách vopred posvätených darov počas štvrtého a piateho týždňa Veľkého pôstu. Zdôrazňuje sa najmä jeho povolanie do novej krajiny, zmluva obriezky (v kresťanstve nahradená krstom) a jeho ochota obetovať svojho syna Izáka. Boh odmietol prijať túto obetu, možno na znak toho, že obetovanie človeka bohu vyhasením jeho života je mu bola odporné. Dôležitá je Abrahámova úplná otvorenosť voči Bohu, ktorý nám neskôr dá svojho jediného Syna, ktorý bude za nás obetovaný na kríži.

Niekedy je nad Prípravným stolom vo svätyni zavesená ikona obetovania Izáka, aby nám pripomínala Abrahámovu vieru. Tým nás vyzýva, aby sme sa ukázali ako „Abrahámovi potomkovia“ tým, že sa odovzdáme Bohu; ako sa modlíme v prosbách: „Sami seba, druh druha i celý náš život Kristu Bohu oddajme.“
